DESIGN UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Please bear with me as I attempt to do the almost impossible and make the artistic layout of my blog better.

Keep in mind I am an economist. While I can draw lots of nice graphs and do some messy math, marketing (which is the essential nature of a blog) is a foreign language to me.

Getting CX again

While summer is here
and the days are still long
My thoughts turn to CX
as I attempt this blog song.

Yesterday did dawn
the first of CX training
While my body did object
At least it was not raining.

If only this was me....
The straight parts of the course
always make me quite happy
But to see those damn barriers
Makes my brain a bit flappy.

Last year during my races
I simply would forget
To dismount and remount
So the barriers I had met
Not me either, but I studied his technique.

Before every race
My secret weapon did plea
Just remount that darn bike
That is your victory's key

My problem is one
of mindset set you know
The poetic CX ballet
with me does not flow.

Of grand jetes, no problem
Also not me...although once a ballerina

Criteriums too
It is the getting off the bike
That makes me cry boo-hoo.

When a course has a run-up
Or some barriers near a tree
I must chant..."I am CX!"
albeit Reluctantly.
Ok...this is me.

So as this CX season starts
and I think of muddy hills
I know to be successful
there will be many drills

And bruises and bleeding
and crashes galore
The mud and the beer
Makes me simply want more

So on Tacchino and Schooley Mill
and those race numbers to pin
the 2013 MABRA Super 8 Series
I simply must win!

  1. This is so funny! It is so awesome that you mention the ballet, as that is exactly how I structure my races...in dance movements. My teammate Chris, also a dancer, now does the same thing and his dismounts and remounts have improved dramatically. You can do this! ;-)

    Peace, mud, and barriers!

  2. It looks like the Black Sheep Cartel cx is all up in your grill today.
It's great to find another cx'er who is also is / was a dancer. I'm always amazed to find the little connections that somehow link cyclocross and ballet, kinda crazy at times.
Great post, and have an awesome cx season!! Rock that tutu!

    1. Thanks! Maybe I should hum tunes from the allegro parts of a ballet as I approach the barriers, think of the prep for the dismount as a grand rond de jambe followed by a petite jete and then a temps leve' back on the bike....
